Busan City and Busan Economic Promotion Agency Participate in Health Checkup Support Project to Care for Local Small Business Owners' Health
Daedong Hospital (Director Lee Kwang-jae) has been designated for the second consecutive year as a partner hospital for the ‘Small Business Owner Happiness Welfare Support Project,’ which is annually implemented by Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, providing high-quality comprehensive health checkup services to local small business owners.
Since 2018, Busan City has been the first in the nation to implement the ‘Small Business Owner Happiness Welfare Support Project,’ and since 2021, it has been supporting the costs of comprehensive health checkups to improve the health of local small business owners. In particular, since the project’s inception, it has received great response from local small business owners who often missed health checkup periods due to their busy livelihoods.
The partner hospitals for 2024 were selected through a review committee composed of experts in related fields. Medical institutions with an average evaluation score of 70 or higher on accessibility, suitability, excellence, and distinctiveness of the comprehensive health checkup programs were selected by region in order of high scores.
This year, a total of 16 medical institutions for checkups were designated by district, including Daedong Hospital, Jeonggwan Ilsin Christian Hospital, Gijang Hospital, Isem Hospital, Gupo Seongsim Hospital, Joeun Samseon Hospital, Samyuk Busan Hospital, Centum General Hospital, Joeun Gangan Hospital, Busan Medical Center, Yeongdo Hospital, Hyosung City Hospital, and Haeundae Bumin Hospital.
The number of supported checkup recipients is 800, which is 300 more than last year. The first application will be accepted from April to May for 400 small business owners in Busan and 400 diligent repayees of the New Start Fund, with checkups conducted from June to August. The second application will be held from July to August, with checkups scheduled between September and October. The support cost per person is based on 250,000 KRW. Application details can be found on the Busan Small Business Owner Comprehensive Support Center website.
Hwang Hye-rim, Head of the Comprehensive Health Checkup Center at Daedong Hospital (Family Medicine Specialist), said, “Small business owners who continue their livelihoods busily without rest often neglect their health management and frequently have no opportunity for early disease detection. We are honored that Daedong Hospital can participate in this meaningful support project conducted by Busan City, and we will do our best to manage the health of local small business owners.”
Daedong Hospital’s Comprehensive Health Checkup Center has been receiving favorable reviews from local residents by creating a pleasant checkup environment through remodeling last year and establishing a cooperative system with more than 20 medical departments including family medicine, providing differentiated one-stop checkup services from examination to treatment.
