Online video service (OTT) TVING announced on the 21st that it will raise the annual subscription price by about 20% starting from the 1st of next month.
This increase applies only to new subscriptions. Existing members who have been using the annual subscription can maintain their current rates.
According to the new pricing policy, TVING raised the Basic subscription (annual) from 94,800 KRW to 114,000 KRW, the Standard from 130,800 KRW to 162,000 KRW, and the Premium from 166,800 KRW to 204,000 KRW.
However, to reduce the burden on new members, they announced an event offering a 27% discount on the annual subscription price for more than one month.
Recently, OTT subscription fees have been rising across both domestic and international platforms.
YouTube Premium recently increased its price by 43%, Disney Plus by 40%. Netflix limited account sharing and charged an additional 5,000 KRW per extra user, and Coupang raised the Wow Membership price by 58%, leading to an increase in Coupang Play fees as well.
