Opening of Hungary Tata Terminal
Connecting Major Inland Cities in Europe
LX Pantos has secured a large railway terminal in Hungary. This is interpreted as a strategy to expand logistics business within Europe by securing logistics hub infrastructure adjacent to the continent's largest battery production hub.
On the 19th (local time), LX Pantos announced on the 21st that it held the opening ceremony of the 'LX Pantos Tata Terminal' at the Mercure Hotel in Hungary.
The terminal is located 65 km southwest of Budapest, Hungary. The total area is about 36,000㎡, equivalent to the size of five soccer fields, and it has two railway tracks. It can simultaneously store cargo up to 1,450 TEU and handle block train cargo (freight trains that connect origin and destination express without stops) three times a day.
To this end, LX Pantos acquired a 10-year terminal usage right from the Austrian Federal Railways. It also secured the priority right to extend the usage for another 10 years thereafter.
Hungary is the world's fourth-largest battery producer after China, Poland, and the United States. With the opening of the Tata Terminal, LX Pantos has secured logistics hub infrastructure adjacent to Europe's largest battery production hub. Through this, it plans to improve cargo handling efficiency and develop various railway products to expand its logistics business in Europe.
First, it plans to connect major inland European cities by rail in conjunction with the international railway TCR (Trans-China Railway), and promote a new sea-rail combined transport business linking the Port of Koper in Slovenia, a maritime logistics gateway to Eastern Europe, to major battery production hubs in Europe.
An LX Pantos official stated, "With the opening of the Tata Terminal, we will strengthen our sales capabilities targeting customers in the electric vehicle and battery industries, while actively expanding our presence in the European logistics market through differentiated logistics services."
