Environmental Product Declaration Certification Recognized for Solar Power Generation Facilities
Lotte Mart announced on the 21st that it will obtain the ‘Green Star’ certification on the 22nd in celebration of Earth Day. This certification marks the first time a large supermarket has achieved it for three consecutive years since 2022. The ‘Green Star’ is a system where the Korea Management Registrar (KMR) grants certification to products and services recognized by consumers as eco-friendly through consumer surveys conducted by the professional research organization ‘Korea Research’.
To obtain this certification, Lotte Mart has carried out various eco-friendly activities over the past year. First, on December 29th last year, Lotte Mart acquired the ‘Environmental Product Declaration Certification’ for 10 products, including its private brand (PB) items ‘Oneul Joeun Caramel-flavored Popcorn (170g)’ and ‘Oneul Joeun Americano Real Black (2.1ℓ)’. Through this certification, Lotte Mart provided consumers with environmental impact information, thereby increasing customer trust in eco-friendly PB products and promoting environmental improvement within the local community.
Additionally, on November 7th last year, Lotte Mart signed an agreement for the ‘Sustainable Product Packaging Value Chain Construction Project’ to promote the sales of eco-friendly packaging products. Furthermore, beyond sales promotion, Lotte Mart is also involved in developing eco-friendly packaging products such as label-free bottled water, livestock cooling bags made from reusable R-PET fabric, and ‘Real’s Animal Welfare Certified Eggs’ using ‘Earth Pack’ paper made from sugarcane.
Jin Ju-tae, Head of Compliance Support Division at Lotte Mart & Super, said, “Obtaining the Green Star certification is the result of the eco-friendly activities Lotte Mart has carried out over the past year. We will continue to implement various eco-friendly cultures such as product development and community volunteer activities to spread eco-friendly culture in customers’ daily lives.”
