Change of Primary Residence Date is June 2023, Leaving Windsor Castle

It has been officially confirmed in documents that Prince Harry, who left the British royal family, has his primary residence not in the UK but in the United States.

On the 17th (local time), a new document of the sustainable travel organization 'Travelist,' established by Prince Harry in 2019, was posted on the UK Companies House website under the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. Among the details notifying changes in key controlling persons within the organization, it was included that as of June 29, 2023, Prince Harry's primary residence changed to the United States. This date is also when the royal family confirmed that Prince Harry left Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle, his last remaining residence in the UK. Prince Harry has not acquired US citizenship. In February, he appeared on ABC's 'Good Morning America' and said, "The thought of US citizenship has crossed my mind, but it is not a high priority at the moment."

Prince Harry, the second son of King Charles III, announced his independence from the royal family in January 2020 after marrying American actress Meghan Markle. After leaving the UK, Prince Harry stayed in Canada for several months before settling in California, USA. Through his media appearances and his autobiography 'Spare,' published earlier last year, he revealed in detail the conflicts he experienced with the royal family, which sparked controversy. A few weeks after the publication of 'Spare,' the British royal family notified Prince Harry to vacate Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle.

In addition to conflicts with the royal family, Prince Harry has been embroiled in controversies related to US visa issuance and security. In 'Spare,' he confessed to having used drugs in the past, and regarding this, the US conservative think tank Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit in a US court demanding that authorities disclose whether he properly informed them of this when applying for a US visa.

Also, after Prince Harry's independence from the royal family led to a downgrade in his security level in the UK, he filed a lawsuit but lost and subsequently failed in his appeal. On the 15th, the UK High Court rejected Prince Harry's appeal concerning last month's ruling that the UK government's decision not to automatically provide police protection to Prince Harry was lawful. In most cases in UK courts, automatic rights to appeal are not granted, and court permission must be obtained first for an appeal.

Previously, in February 2020, the UK government decided to exclude Prince Harry from automatic police protection provided to senior royal family members and to provide tailored protection on a case-by-case basis. Prince Harry's side claimed this was unfair and illegal treatment and filed a lawsuit but lost in February.
