Nowon-gu '2024 Bulamsan Azalea Festival' Weekend Crowds 'Bustling'

Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the '2024 Bulamsan Azalea Festival' until the 28th, timed with the azalea blooming season.

Started in 2022, the Bulamsan Azalea Festival is now in its third year and is one of the five major festivals representing Nowon. Every spring, it takes place at the district’s representative attraction, Bulamsan Healing Town (Azalea Hill), where 100,000 vivid crimson azalea bushes create a spectacular view.

Bulamsan Healing Town is a prominent healing space that includes not only Azalea Hill but also various facilities such as the ‘Butterfly Garden,’ where you can observe butterflies alive throughout the seasons, the ‘Nowon Garden Support Center’ with a greenhouse caf? and a companion plant hospital, and the ‘Forest Healing Center.’ The district plans to enrich the Bulamsan Azalea Festival by operating diverse cultural programs utilizing these key facilities.

Various ▲cultural performances are also prepared. The performances will be held on four weekends (April 20, 21, 27, and 28), three times a day (2 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM), at the Azalea Hill Healing Shelter. Visitors can enjoy a range of shows including the clown play ‘Black Crown,’ the bubble show ‘Gyeongsangdo Soap Bubbles,’ the performance by the theater troupe The Clowns titled ‘The One Who Spins, The One Who Runs, The One Who Flies,’ the magic show ‘Magic Cat,’ African percussion ‘Africa of the Sun,’ and the circus ‘Hondul Hondul.’

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “This year’s azalea flowers are expected to be larger and more vibrant than usual,” adding, “We have prepared various programs that harmonize with the 100,000 azalea bushes, so we hope everyone has a happy time at the Bulamsan Azalea Festival.”
