Busan Paradise Casino Fires 4 Employees
Received Money for Sharing Pre-Obtained Event Winning Information
It has been revealed that four employees at the Paradise Hotel Busan casino colluded with customers to share event winnings, embezzling more than 200 million won.
On the 19th, Yonhap News reported that four employees at the Paradise Hotel Busan casino were recently dismissed for disciplinary reasons.
These employees are suspected of embezzling over 200 million won from October 2022 to March of this year through an in-house event (Mystery Jackpot) held on slot machines within the casino. They reportedly conspired with specific foreign customers, informing them of winning opportunities and sharing the event winnings.

Slot machines are strictly regulated by law, so it is impossible to manipulate winning rates or tamper with the machines arbitrarily. However, since this event was a hotel-run customer appreciation event unrelated to the slot machines' winning rates, some employees were able to access information about the winnings in advance.
Additionally, the casino explained that the period during which the crime occurred coincided with severe staffing shortages due to COVID-19, which hindered the proper functioning of internal monitoring systems at the time.
As the casino resumed normal operations with the transition to the COVID-19 endemic phase, the hotel detected the suspicious behavior and conducted a thorough internal investigation, ultimately uncovering the crime. The hotel stated that this was the first time such an incident had occurred.
The hotel said, "Since the 'event jackpot' kept hitting for certain customers, we noticed something unusual and launched an investigation last month. We conducted a full investigation by reviewing system records and monitoring footage, which led to the detection of the wrongdoing."
Most of the embezzled money has now been repaid. The hotel stated, "We are preparing legal actions against those involved, and regarding the foreign customers who participated in the crime, we will decide on legal proceedings such as filing complaints based on nationality issues." They added, "To prevent recurrence, we will implement rigorous improvements across all work processes and conduct employee training."
