Cable TV Broadcasting Awards... Drama 'Iltascandal' and Channel ENA Honored with Awards

The Only Paid Broadcasting Festival in Korea Opens
Minister Lee Jong-ho and Vice Chairman Lee Sang-in Attend

The Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Association held the '2024 Cable TV Broadcasting Awards' on the 19th at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, presenting the prestigious trophies to a total of 100 awardees including genre-specific grand prize winners, individual awards, government commendations, and plaques of merit.

The Cable TV Broadcasting Awards is the only paid broadcasting festival in Korea that encompasses both SOs (System Operators) and PPs (Program Providers).


On this day, the association welcomed around 250 attendees including government officials such as Minister Lee Jong-ho of the Ministry of Science and ICT and Vice Chairman Lee Sang-in of the Korea Communications Commission, award recipients, and current and former executives of cable TV companies, while broadcasting the event live to viewers.


The highlight of the day, the association’s 30th anniversary ceremony, was attended by former chairmen including Kim Jae-gi, the inaugural chairman, Yoo Sam-ryeol, the 4th chairman, and Yang Hwi-bu, the 8th chairman, who participated in the 30th anniversary rice cake cutting and received plaques of merit.


The genre-specific grand prizes awarded to PPs included ▲Drama ‘Iltas Scandal’ (tvN) ▲Entertainment ‘Mom’s Train Trip’ (Channel J) ▲Culture ‘The Rich Farmer’s Comeback’ (NBS Korea Agriculture Broadcasting) ▲Documentary ‘Dangol’ (Gugak Broadcasting) ▲Variety ‘Saturday Loves Rice’ (E Channel) ▲Music ‘Why the World Fears K-POP’ (iNet TV) ▲Culture & Arts ‘Back to the Map’ (Channel S) ▲Children’s ‘Dudungtak! Iyagi-ga Eolsu’ (Jaeneung TV).


PP special awards went to ▲Channel Award ‘ENA’ ▲VOD Award ‘Agency’ (JTBC). The joint production special awards were given to ‘Rebirth of Space’ (SK Broadband and 5 other companies), ‘Solo Travel Map, WhereGO Season 2’ (Seogyeong Broadcasting and 15 other companies), and ‘Stop Regional Extinction’ (HCN and 3 other companies).


The Star Award was given to singer-songwriter Lee Joo-hyuk, who sang the theme song of the drama grand prize winner ‘Iltas Scandal,’ and the six-member multinational girl group TRI.BE. Kenji Enya, chairman of the Japan Cable Federation, attended the event and presented the Star Awards.


The SO Work Awards honored eight regional channel works across three categories. ▲News: ‘Continuous Reports on the Poor Medical Reality in Rural Areas’ (LG HelloVision Yeongdong Broadcasting), ‘Blind Spots in Law and System: School for the Blind Commute Route... “Urgent Improvement Needed”’ (HCN Busan Broadcasting), ‘Wongok-dong Report’ (SK Broadband abc Broadcasting), ‘One Year After the Itaewon Disaster, How Is Your Daily Life?’ (D’Live TV) ▲Regular Programs: ‘#Our Neighborhood #History Story ’ (D’Live TV), ‘Underwater Olrae’ (KCTV Jeju Broadcasting) ▲Specials: ‘Level Up Local’ (CMB Gwangju Broadcasting), ‘Gyeongsang Geography’ (JCN Ulsan Central Broadcasting).


The SO Special Awards, given to organizations that have contributed to regional development and enhancement of local identity through cooperation with cable TV, were awarded to ▲Excellent Local Government Award ‘Our Market Class Gongju Chestnut’ (Gongju City Hall) ▲Regional Enterprise Vitality Award (Jinju & Sacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry) ▲Local Branding Content ‘Taegun Singing Contest’ (LG HelloVision).
