Gathering of Civic Capacity... Over 150 Representatives from Various Civic Organizations Attend
Mokpo City is uniting the capabilities of its citizens to successfully host the 53rd National Youth Sports Festival and the 18th National Disabled Students Sports Festival in 2024.
According to the city on the 19th, a resolution meeting for the successful hosting of the two major sports events was held on the 18th at the Mokpo International Football Center.
At the event, about 150 people including Park Hong-ryul, Mayor of Mokpo and chairman of the sports event operation committee, as well as representatives from various civic and social organizations, attended. The program included a pre-ceremony congratulatory performance, certificate awarding, progress report on the promotion, and a calligraphy performance praying for the success of the sports events.

In particular, to achieve a successful sports festival together as Mokpo citizens, a resolution containing key action items in four areas?△sports event promotion △welcoming guests △citizen participation △sharing and volunteering?was adopted and read aloud. They pledged to make their best efforts so that all citizens can unite and support the successful hosting of the sports events.
The Pan-Citizen Promotion Council was formed in May last year, led by Kim Sam-yeol, chairman of the council, and representatives from various civic and social organizations. It has played a central role in fostering broad citizen participation and practical movements, leading to the successful hosting of the 2023 National Sports Festival and National Disabled Sports Festival.
In his greeting, Chairman Kim Sam-yeol said, “Unified strength is needed once again for the successful hosting of the event,” and proposed, “Let us all, the citizens, create an opportunity for Mokpo City to soar higher through the successive successful hosting of sports festivals.”
Mayor Park Hong-ryul emphasized, “When all citizens prepare together, enjoy together, and share together, this National Youth Sports Festival will be recorded as an unprecedented success and a victory for the citizens of Mokpo,” adding, “We hope for your active participation so that Mokpo can be reborn as an advanced sports city and a center of the sports industry.”
Meanwhile, the 18th National Disabled Students Sports Festival will be held from the 14th to the 17th of next month, mainly in Mokpo City, the main host city, with 17 events distributed across 17 venues in 5 cities and counties of Jeollanam-do. The 53rd National Youth Sports Festival will take place from the 25th to the 28th of the same month, featuring 36 events across 50 venues in 22 cities and counties.
