Shinhan Bank announced on the 19th that it will provide the 'Insufficient Amount Auto Payment Service' for the 'Shinhan SOL Travel Check Card.'
The Insufficient Amount Auto Payment Service allows users of the Shinhan SOL Travel Check Card to automatically withdraw the insufficient amount from their linked KRW account, convert it, and complete the payment when the foreign currency balance is insufficient during overseas use.
This service can be applied for on the dedicated SOL Travel Check Card page within the Shinhan SOL Bank app, and it features on/off functionality for enhanced convenience.
The Shinhan SOL Travel Check Card surpassed 500,000 issued cards within two months, and to celebrate this milestone, a customer appreciation event is underway. Prizes for this event include Shinhan Bank X NewJeans message cards and travel support funds up to 5 million KRW.
A Shinhan Bank representative stated, “We introduced the Insufficient Amount Auto Payment Service to improve the inconvenience caused by insufficient prepaid balances before travel,” adding, “We plan to expand benefits and convenience for customers and ask for much interest in the 500,000 card issuance appreciation event.”
Meanwhile, the basic services of the Shinhan SOL Travel Check Card include ▲100% preferential exchange rates for 30 currencies worldwide ▲waiver of overseas payment and ATM withdrawal fees ▲special interest rates on account balances after currency exchange (2.0% per annum for USD, 1.5% per annum for EUR) ▲5% discount at the four major convenience stores in Korea ▲1% discount on public transportation, among others.
Additionally, premium specialized services include ▲free airport lounge access (once each in the first and second half of the year) ▲Mastercard Travel Rewards service (up to 10% cashback at over 400 merchants in 25 countries), as well as various country-specific discounts without annual fees such as ▲5% at Japan’s three major convenience stores ▲5% at Vietnam’s Grab and Lotte Mart ▲5% at Starbucks in the United States.
