High Satisfaction with Integrated Elderly Medical Care Support in Cheonan City

Satisfaction Rate 84.3%, 80% Hope to Continue Living in Their Current Residence

High Satisfaction with Integrated Elderly Medical Care Support in Cheonan City

Cheonan City in Chungnam Province has shown a very high level of satisfaction with the pilot project for integrated elderly medical care support.

The integrated elderly medical care support project dispatches doctors, nurses, and social workers to the homes of elderly residents to provide various linked medical and care services, enabling them to continue living in their familiar surroundings.

Since being selected for the pilot project in March last year, the city has been actively implementing the program from July, providing 1,714 integrated services to 519 beneficiaries.

Last year, each elderly person who received services was supported with an average of 3.3 services. Among the 440 respondents to the survey, 371 (84.3%) expressed overall satisfaction with the project, and 80% of the beneficiaries wished to continue living in their current homes.

Service satisfaction scores out of 5 points were as follows: visiting medical care 4.48, disinfection and quarantine 4.42, oral health management 4.34, and Korean traditional medicine treatment 4.28, indicating generally high satisfaction with the visiting medical services.

Additionally, the performance evaluation survey showed that health-related quality of life remained stable, with scores of 2.75 before and 2.78 after the service on a 4-point scale, while subjective quality of life improved from 4.25 to 4.36 on a 5-point scale.

The city analyzes that the high satisfaction with the services is due to the provision of daily living support services such as home housekeeping, home bathing, accompaniment for outings, nutritional support, and safe living assistance, which have enabled independent living at home.

A city official stated, “We find great fulfillment in the elderly medical care pilot project as it helps seniors maintain satisfaction and continue living in their homes,” adding, “We will continue to carefully support policies to ensure that elderly people in need of care do not experience inconvenience.”
