Based on Next-Generation Model LLaMA 3

Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot 'MetaAI' will be integrated into Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and other platforms.

Meta AI is based on the next-generation large-scale language model Llama3, which was unveiled on the same day. Starting today, the English version will be initially released in about 10 countries including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. The release schedule for other countries, including Korea, has not been announced. Previously, Meta first revealed the beta (free) version of MetaAI at an event last September.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, emphasized, "Meta AI can answer user questions, create animations, and generate images," adding, "We believe MetaAI is the most intelligent AI assistant freely available."

Accordingly, users will be able to ask MetaAI for restaurant recommendations or get help planning vacations. Meta has partnered with Google and Microsoft (MS) to enable MetaAI to answer questions based on these companies' search engine results. Additionally, MetaAI is accessible on the website 'meta.ai'. It can assist with solving math problems or drafting professional emails, and conversation records will be saved for future reference.

The company confirmed that the image generation feature of MetaAI will first be offered in beta on WhatsApp and the MetaAI website.

Meanwhile, the latest open-source AI model Llama3, unveiled on the same day, was released in two versions: a small model with 8 billion parameters and a large model with 70 billion parameters. It is currently regarded as the highest-performing open-source model in its class. The company highlighted that Llama3 not only achieved superior scores compared to Google Gemini Pro 1.0 in large-scale multi-task language understanding (MMLU) tests evaluating AI problem-solving abilities in subjects like math, physics, and history, but also showed significant improvements in reasoning, code generation, and execution.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange today, Meta's stock closed at $501.80 per share, up 1.54% from the previous session.
