Busan City Holds the 64th Anniversary Ceremony of the April 19 Revolution

At 10 AM on the 19th, Central Park 4·19 Democratic Revolution Victims Memorial Tower Plaza

Over 100 attendees including 4·19 Revolution Meritorious Persons and Families, Mayor Park Hyung-jun, and Key Institution Heads

Busan City will hold the ‘64th Anniversary 4·19 Revolution Commemoration Ceremony’ at 10 a.m. on the 19th in the square in front of the Memorial Tower for the Victims of the April 19 Democratic Revolution in Jungang Park.

About 100 people, including 4·19 Revolution merit recipients and their families, Mayor Park Hyung-jun, City Council Chairman Ahn Seong-min, Superintendent of Education Ha Yun-su, and other key officials, will attend to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of the 4·19 Revolution merit recipients.

Today’s ceremony will proceed in the following order: ▲National anthem ▲Moment of silence for the patriotic martyrs, national heroes, and victims of the 4·19 Revolution ▲Flower offering and incense burning ▲Report on the progress of the 4·19 Revolution ▲Presentation of appreciation plaques ▲Commemorative speech by Mayor Park Hyung-jun ▲Memorial performance by the Municipal Dance Troupe ▲4·19 memorial choir performance by the Municipal Choir.

Along with today’s ceremony, events commemorating the 4·19 Revolution will be held in Busan.

On the 18th at 2 p.m., the ‘4·19 Memorial Service’ was held at the Yoo-young Enshrinement Hall for the Victims of the 4·19 Revolution in Jungang Park, and on the 19th at 11 a.m., the ‘Kang Soo-young Martyr Memorial Service’ will be held in front of the statue of martyr Kang Soo-young at Gyeongnam Technical High School.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “Busan is the city that held the torch of resistance to revive the value of liberal democracy the highest, and the loud cheers of Busan citizens changed the course of history,” adding, “On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the 4·19 Revolution, I hope this will be a great opportunity to resolve various gaps in our society and move toward true integration.”
