KGC Ginseng Corporation announced on the 19th that it held an international seminar on the theme of "Efficacy and Safety of Red Ginseng" at the International Congress of Natural Products Science (ICSB).
A KGC Ginseng Corporation official stated, "We presented scientifically proven research results on the various benefits of red ginseng, capturing the attention of the local audience. We also conducted a tasting event of CheongKwanJang red ginseng products for seminar attendees, which received great enthusiasm from the locals."
Professor Na Seung-yeol of Konkuk University is presenting on the efficacy of red ginseng at the International Conference on Natural Products Science (ICSB).
The conference was held from the 15th to the 18th at the Oxford Conference Center in Mississippi, USA. Over 400 participants including government officials from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), university professors, researchers, and buyers attended.
At this international seminar, researchers from Korea, the United States, and Taiwan presented research results on representative benefits such as ▲improvement of blood circulation and fatigue relief ▲memory enhancement and dementia prevention, as well as the safety of red ginseng consumption.
Professor Na Seung-yeol of Konkuk University presented research findings, stating, "Various components of red ginseng, such as saponins and red ginseng polysaccharides, have been scientifically proven to improve blood circulation, boost immunity, and aid fatigue recovery." He added, "In particular, consuming red ginseng suppresses the accumulation of amyloid plaques that cause dementia in the brain, reduces inflammation, and improves cognitive dysfunction."
Professor Chang Ying-Ho of China Medical University in Taiwan, a world-renowned authority in the field of natural products, presented the latest research results, saying, "Continuous intake of red ginseng improves learning and memory through central nervous system regulation and helps improve blood circulation by regulating platelet aggregation."
Dr. Iklas Khan, Director of the U.S. National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR), said, "This seminar is very meaningful as it confirmed through various clinical studies that red ginseng is safe and effective in improving fatigue, restoring energy, and enhancing blood circulation."
Lee Yoon-beom, Director of KGC Ginseng Corporation’s U.S. R&D Center, said, "We prepared this international seminar to widely promote the excellence of red ginseng in the U.S. region." He added, "We will continue activities to inform local Americans about the scientifically based efficacy and excellence of red ginseng, and collaborate with U.S. universities and hospitals to conduct clinical research on red ginseng’s benefits, contributing to the globalization of Korea’s representative health material, red ginseng."
Meanwhile, KGC Ginseng Corporation opened its U.S. R&D Center in Fullerton near Los Angeles in March last year. The U.S. R&D Center is conducting scientific research on the efficacy of red ginseng, including clinical trials targeting local Americans, in collaboration with research teams from prestigious U.S. universities such as Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, and Colorado State University. It is also focusing on developing customized products that reflect local consumer needs.
Currently, over 90 types of CheongKwanJang products are sold in the U.S., among which ‘Everytime,’ known for its convenience of intake and improved taste by reducing the bitterness of red ginseng, and the functional beverage ‘HongSamWon’ are very popular.
KGC Ginseng Corporation plans to continue its growth by expanding distribution channels targeting mainstream customers, including large retailers and local natural markets, and by expanding products centered on the Everytime brand. It also plans to diversify its portfolio with various differentiated stick products reflecting local preferences in taste and ingredients.
