The 'Pyeongtaek Intangible Cultural Heritage Transmission Education Center' for the succession of major national intangible cultural heritage in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do, broke ground on the 18th.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Transmission Education Center, to be newly built in the area of 210-39, Sindae-ri, Paengseong-eup, will cover approximately 4,000㎡. The city plans to complete the construction by August next year with a project budget of 22.5 billion KRW, including national funds. About 200 people, including Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Yoo Seung-young, Chairperson of the City Council, members of the National Assembly, and provincial and city council members, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.


The education center will be equipped with facilities such as practice rooms, workshops, and offices. It will house national intangible cultural heritage such as Pyeongtaek Nongak, as well as Gyeonggi-do designated intangible cultural heritage including ▲Pyeongtaek Minyo ▲Embroidery Master ▲Wood Engraving Master categories.


Mayor Jeong said, "We will create a space that fulfills the original function of preserving and transmitting intangible cultural heritage, as well as a cultural infrastructure facility that satisfies citizens' desire to enjoy culture."
