Gokseong-gun Takes Initiative to Attract Smart Young Entrepreneurs for Returning to Farming and Rural Living

With Thorough Preliminary Research, Returning to Farming Will Make Gokseong a 'Land of Opportunity'

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will participate in the '2024 Smart Returning to Farming and Rural Youth Startup Expo' held at Suwon Convention Center for three days from the 19th to the 21st.

This expo will be attended by the Gokseong-gun Returning to Farming and Rural Support Center, where experienced returnees will provide substantial consultations by sharing their agricultural know-how with urban residents and prospective returnees wishing to move back to rural areas, and actively promote the region.

Additionally, Gokseong-gun will introduce its returning to farming and rural policies, the online shopping mall ‘Gokseong Mall’, the Hometown Love Donation Program, and Gokseong travel. It will also exhibit representative agricultural specialty products such as Baekse rice, taro, processed taro products, fermented vinegar, melon (melon syrup, Makgeolli), fruit juices (apple, grape, ABC), brown rice, five-colored rice, and processed five-colored rice to attract the interest of urban residents.

In particular, the expo will focus on introducing various returning to farming and rural policies, including the farm house repair support project that provides 5 million KRW per household, the new agricultural workforce development project that supports 12 million KRW per household (50% subsidy, 50% self-payment), support projects for returning farmers’ agricultural startups and house purchases, and loan programs.

A county official stated, “This expo will be a valuable opportunity to learn about Gokseong-gun’s geographical information and representative crops, which will greatly help urban residents hoping to return to farming.” He added, “With sufficient preliminary research and systematic planning, successful returning to farming, rural settlement, and startups can be achieved.”
