Toss Securities announced on the 18th that the cumulative number of users of its real-time fractional trading service for overseas stocks has surpassed 1.5 million. This represents a 475% growth in two years since its launch in April 2022.
The real-time fractional trading service for overseas stocks allows investment in leading U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) starting from 1,000 KRW. Most aspects such as the existing one-share purchase method, trading process, order execution time, available investment items, and transaction fees remain the same.
The age distribution of customers using the service was recorded as 7.1% in their teens, 28.8% in their 20s, 23.3% in their 30s, 23.5% in their 40s, 14.1% in their 50s, and 3.2% aged 60 and above.
Last year, the stock most invested in through the real-time fractional trading service for overseas stocks was Tesla. It was followed by Apple, Nvidia, TQQQ, and SOXL.
In the first quarter of this year, the most invested stocks were Tesla, Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, and SOXL in that order. Riding the wave of artificial intelligence (AI), Nvidia saw a 357% increase in the number of users compared to the same period last year, while Microsoft rose 242% to rank fourth.
Since its launch in 2021, Toss Securities recorded its first annual profit in 2023 and continues its strong performance into the first quarter of this year. Over the past year alone, it attracted about 1 million new customers, reaching 5.9 million customers as of April, with approximately 3 million monthly active users (MAU). The customer base is increasing annually not only among those in their 20s and 30s but also those aged 40 and above.
A Toss Securities representative stated, "The real-time fractional trading service for overseas stocks has lowered the barrier for domestic individual investors to invest in overseas stocks and has led to increased trading activity. We will continue to enhance the service to help customers achieve efficient asset allocation and high returns."
