On the 18th, the Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City conducted a council tour for about 60 six-year-old children from the Hyundai Rina Forest Kindergarten in Seo-gu.
The tour began on the first floor with a session called 'Getting to Know the Council,' introducing the work of the council and Seo-gu Council. Then, the children went to the main conference room on the second floor, where they received an explanation about the gavel and saw a demonstration of how to use it. The gavel is a tool used by the chairperson to conduct meetings in the council. The children each held the gavel, experiencing the role of the chairperson and learning about democratic decision-making procedures.
Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae said, “I hope this tour becomes a good memory for the children and a valuable experience in fostering democratic awareness,” adding, “Seo-gu Council will continue to expand opportunities for participation for the local community, children, and residents.”
