Cheongsong-gun Holds Launch Ceremony for UNESCO Global Geopark 'Youth Geological Exploration Team'

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held the 5th launch ceremony of the Cheongsong UNESCO Global Geopark Youth Geology Exploration Team on the 13th.

Since its inception in 2020, the 'Youth Geology Exploration Team,' a collaborative program between Cheongsong Global Geopark and the Cheongsong Youth Center, has been a geopark exploration program aimed at local youth.

The launch ceremony included the appointment of geology exploration team members, program orientation, safety education, theoretical education on geoparks, and a group bingo game featuring geological sites of Cheongsong Global Geopark.

The 35 newly selected members of the 5th Youth Geology Exploration Team will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including exploring diverse geological sites in Cheongsong and visiting domestic geoparks to compare the geological characteristics of Cheongsong with other regions until the end of this year.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “I hope this program will provide local youth, the future generation, with an opportunity to understand the value of geoparks and to reflect on the preservation of the natural environment.”
