Busan City Cooperation Secures Site for 'Neulbom Special School'
Accelerating Project to Launch Pilot Operation in September
The ‘Neulbom Exclusive School,’ scheduled to open in the Myeongji area with high demand for childcare waiting lists this September, has secured a site, accelerating the project.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) announced on the 18th that it has secured a school site in cooperation with Busan City. The exclusive school is being piloted by the Office of Education to develop a new Neulbom School model that integrates childcare and education to address childcare gaps.
The Office of Education designated the Myeongji-dong area, a city-owned land, as the optimal site for the exclusive school. This site is a densely populated apartment complex area with high childcare demand and is evaluated to have the best educational environment considering user convenience and the proximity of nearby libraries.
Since February, the Office of Education has been negotiating site usage with Busan City. After several rounds of discussions, Busan City agreed to allow free use of the site, recognizing the public value and urgency of resolving childcare demand in the Myeongji area.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “We thank Busan City for making a significant decision for the children of the Myeongji area,” and added, “The Office of Education will do its best to ensure there are no gaps in caring for the children through communication with Busan City.”
Having secured the site, the Office of Education plans to accelerate the pilot operation of the so-called ‘Neulbom Exclusive School’ by going through procedures such as internal financial investment review and budget allocation.
