Busan Office of Education Operates 'Traditional Market Experiential Program'
Releases Materials on 'Becoming a Smart Rich Person with Happiness for 10,000 Won'
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) announced on the 18th that it will operate a 'Traditional Market Experiential Economic Education Program' linked to the school curriculum for all 6th-grade elementary school students until November.
This program was prepared to cultivate students' proper economic concepts, such as rational consumption methods, through traditional market experiences linked to the school curriculum, and to realize the win-win value of revitalizing the local economy.
To ensure efficient program operation, the Busan Office of Education published a revised edition of the booklet titled "Becoming a Smart Rich Person with the Happiness of 10,000 Won," reflecting relevant curricula and achievement standards.
This booklet is composed of three types: ▲ Developing gift fruit basket products 'Class activity type' ▲ Family outing to Bookstore Alley 'Home activity type' ▲ Exploring traditional markets at school trip destinations 'School trip type.'
'Developing gift fruit basket products' involves activities comparing the prices of commercial fruit baskets and self-made fruit baskets, learning about companies' profit-seeking methods and pricing strategies considering profit margins.
'Family outing to Bookstore Alley' helps students understand the pros and cons of secondhand transactions and rational product selection methods at Bookstore Alley, where used books are sold.
'Exploring traditional markets at school trip destinations' involves investigating and purchasing local specialties at school trip sites, allowing students to learn about rational consumption methods and the relationship with revitalizing the local economy.
The Busan Office of Education guided schools to select one of the three types linked to the curriculum, such as social and creative experiential activities, and engage in experiential activities. Each student will be supported with a 10,000 won Onnuri gift certificate.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “As economic uncertainty grows worldwide, the importance of systematic economic education is increasing day by day,” and added, “The Office of Education will instill proper economic concepts in students through substantial economic education that combines learning and practice.”
