"No Contact Info on Nuisance Parking... Ended Up Taking a Taxi to Work"

'Inconsiderate Parking' in Villa Parking Lot... No Phone Number Left
Vehicle Parked Well Beyond the Parking Stopper

A story has been revealed about someone struggling with a car owner who parked without consideration for surrounding vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex where many people live together.

"No Contact Info on Nuisance Parking... Ended Up Taking a Taxi to Work" A neighbor parked their car outside the parking lines, clearly visible at a glance. Because of this vehicle, Mr. A had to take a taxi to work.

On the 18th, a post titled "I took a taxi to work today" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, who introduced himself as an ordinary office worker, said, "Due to work, I have been living in a one-room apartment in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk since last year," and added, "The one-room apartment parking lot is narrow, barely fitting 4 to 5 cars."

Mr. A said, "The problem is that there is a car owner who parks without consideration for neighbors in the already narrow one-room parking lot," and "Not only does he park strangely, but he also does not leave any contact information." He continued, "On the morning of the 18th, I was shocked when I was about to go to work. I wanted to ask how I was supposed to go to work with the car parked like that," and shared a photo.

Looking at the photo posted by Mr. A, a white vehicle is parked far ahead of the parking stopper. This situation is expected to cause inconvenience to pedestrians entering the villa entrance because of the vehicle. Moreover, there is no contact information written on the front windshield, so there is no way to contact the owner.

Mr. A said, "Because the car is always parked like that, the car parked in front cannot leave," and "That day, I ended up taking a taxi to work. Since the one-room parking lot is private property, I really want to tow the vehicle, but I cannot," he lamented.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "You can see a person's character in how they park," "Seems like someone who doesn't understand communal living," "Maybe they parked like that because if they parked further back, they would have to get out from the passenger side," "It would be good to take a photo and report it to the villa management," "I would feel upset too," and "You might even be able to claim the taxi fare."

Meanwhile, on March 10, 2021, Jang Kyung-tae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, introduced a bill to amend the Apartment Housing Management Act to eradicate parking obstruction in apartment complexes and create a safe and convenient parking environment. The amendment imposes an obligation on apartment residents to avoid parking obstruction (including double parking or leaving vehicles unattended that interfere with other vehicles' parking or driving) so as not to cause damage to other residents.

Various legislative amendments related to parking disputes have been proposed in the National Assembly, but many remain dormant without passing the bill review subcommittee. For an amendment to be promulgated into law, it must be referred to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and then submitted to the plenary session, but most parking dispute-related bills fail to pass these stages and face automatic dismissal.
