Soonchunhyang University Establishes Three Advanced Departments Including Carbon Neutrality Studies

Suncheonhyang University will establish three new departments in advanced fields starting from the 2025 academic year.


According to Suncheonhyang University on the 18th, the Ministry of Education recently approved the '2025 Academic Year Advanced Field Enrollment Adjustment,' allowing the creation of three new advanced field departments: in the biohealth sector, the Department of Biomedical Convergence - Healthcare Convergence Major and the Department of Biomedical Convergence - Bio-pharmaceutical Major; and in the environment and energy (new energy industry) sector, the Department of Carbon Neutrality, along with an increase of 115 student enrollment slots.


With this approval, Suncheonhyang University plans to focus on nurturing glocal specialized talents based on regional specialized industries and the university's strengths from the 2025 academic year, in line with future advanced field workforce demand and government talent development policies.


Additionally, the university has designated MMC (Mobility-Medibio-Carbon Neutrality) as its specialized fields to pursue regional innovation that grows alongside regional specialized industries through advanced education. It aims to serve as a glocal industry-academia-research hub university aligned with the main industries of Chungnam Province.


President Kim Seung-woo stated, “Through the establishment of these advanced departments, our university will accelerate the cultivation of professional personnel who contribute to the development of advanced industries and the enhancement of national competitiveness.” He added, “We will establish education and research cooperation strategies closely linked to regional industries to strengthen our position as a glocal university that grows together with the region.”
