Lotte Mart and Supermarket are launching a new ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) campaign brand called ‘Bada愛(Jinsim)’. Under the slogan ‘Loving the Sea, with Sincerity,’ they plan to continue various ESG activities centered on the sea, including marine environment conservation, supporting fisheries workers for coastal community coexistence, and sustainable seafood supply.
As the start of the campaign, Lotte Mart and Supermarket announced on the 18th that they signed a business agreement for ‘Bada愛(Jinsim)’ the previous day with Gunsan City, the Korea Water Resources Corporation West Sea Headquarters, and the Environmental Foundation. The signing ceremony, held at the Environmental Foundation located in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Jin Jutae, Head of Compliance Support Division at Lotte Mart Supermarket, Lee Seongwon, Director of Fisheries Promotion Division of Gunsan City, Yang Jeonggyu, Head of the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency West Sea Headquarters, and Lee Mikyung, CEO of the Environmental Foundation.

Through this business agreement, Lotte Mart and Supermarket will cooperate with Gunsan City, the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency, and the Environmental Foundation to create and manage sea forests, improve marine ecological environments, and promote carbon neutrality and biodiversity conservation. In particular, they plan to restore and expand the Zalpi habitats, which are attracting attention as underwater carbon sinks (blue carbon), and actively participate in environmental cleanup activities along the coast near Gunsan City.
In May, Gunsan City will appoint Lotte Mart and Supermarket as ‘Jangjado Sea Guardians’ of Gunsan City. Accordingly, employees of Lotte Mart and Supermarket plan to engage in making and transplanting Zalpi auxiliary structures on Jangjado Island in Gunsan City, as well as conducting coastal and beach cleanup projects near the transplantation sites. Additionally, to promote awareness of marine ecosystem conservation and biodiversity, they will hold a children’s marine environmental ecology education camp called ‘Bada愛(Gakka-i).’
Jin Jutae, Head of Compliance Support Division at Lotte Mart and Supermarket, said, “This business agreement is the first signal of the ‘Bada愛(Jinsim)’ campaign, and we plan to showcase various activities for marine ecosystem conservation through public-private cooperation.” He added, “As a leading company in the distribution industry, Lotte Mart and Supermarket will fulfill their social responsibilities through diverse ESG management activities.”
