Gyeonggi Province has selected 56 small festivals.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on the 18th that they have selected 56 festivals through the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Province Small Festival Development Support’ project and will provide up to 30 million KRW to these festivals.
The selected festivals include those reflecting local characteristics, such as ▲ Anseong City Tourism Dure Council’s ‘Sujak (手作), Capturing Anseong’ Anseong Mat-chum Handmade Festival, which was evaluated as an excellent festival last year ▲ Gyeonggi Puppet Theater Promotion Association’s 2024 Forest Puppet Park Festival ▲ Guri City Youth Foundation’s With Festa.
Gyeonggi Province and the Tourism Organization will hold an orientation session for the selected organizations regarding the support methods and procedures of the small festival support project, and will also conduct a performance sharing meeting on the development direction of the festivals through on-site monitoring of future festival events.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "Through the small festival support project, we will expand local residents’ participation and revitalize small festivals that reflect the characteristics of each region, thereby contributing to the development of a tourism industry led by local residents."
Since last year, Gyeonggi Province and the Tourism Organization have been promoting this project with the goal of supporting festivals that are led by local residents themselves, fostering community harmony, and ensuring sustainability and benefits for the region.
