A Man in His 50s Dies After Being Crushed by a Compressor at a Fire Extinguisher Collection Factory in Gimhae

A man in his 50s working at a fire extinguisher collection factory in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, died after being crushed by a compressor.

According to the Gimhae Western Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 17th, on the 15th, Mr. A, a man in his 50s working on fire extinguisher compression at a fire extinguisher collection factory in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae City, was crushed by a compressor.

The fire extinguisher compressor, which was hanging from a hoist device used to lift and move cargo, fell on Mr. A after its connecting link broke during work.

Mr. A, who was crushed on his chest and back by the compressor weighing several hundred kilograms, was taken to the hospital and treated but ultimately passed away.

At the time, it was reported that Mr. A was working alone moving the compressor.

The accident site was a workplace with fewer than five employees, so it was determined that the Serious Accident Punishment Act did not apply.

The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and whether there was any violation of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, targeting the factory manager and others.
