[Harumanbo Harucheonja] Walk and Run Comfortably at Hangang... 'Runner's Station' Yeouinaru Station

Runner Station Yeoinaru Station is the first application case of the subway station innovation project promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. It is equipped with various convenience facilities such as a storage room, changing rooms, powder rooms, and a media education room so that anyone can enjoy walking and running in the city. After shedding uncomfortable dress shoes and work attire, you can step out of the station after work in comfortable sneakers and clothing to fully enjoy the Han River right away.

Runner Station is scheduled to open on the 20th. On the same day in the afternoon, the Seoul Runners Festival will be held at Yeouido Hangang Park to celebrate the opening. The highlight of the event is the '8K Open Run.' Participants start from Yeoinaru Station (Event Plaza), pass Seoul Bridge and the Folk Playground, and return along the Yeouido Trail (8.4 km) for one lap. Unlike typical races that require fast running, participants can walk or run, broadening the scope of participation. Registration opened last month and was fully booked with 3,000 applicants within just one day.

In particular, the event will add meaning by operating as a 'Donation Challenge Run,' where 100 KRW is donated per kilometer, accumulating 840 KRW upon completion. Sponsored by LG Electronics, the donated funds will be used for community sports programs for people with disabilities and those with limited mobility.

There will also be a speed competition. Twenty running crew teams from the metropolitan area, each consisting of up to eight members, will run the Yeouido Trail in a relay format, with rankings based on their records to select the 'Running Crew of the Year' in the 'Crew Ranking Competition.'

Various programs that anyone can enjoy without separate registration will also be available. The event venue will host a 'Running Fair' and a 'Running Crew Flea Market' featuring 25 sports companies. A portion of the proceeds (up to 10%, voluntarily) will be donated. Participants in Seoul’s citizen healthcare program 'Wrist Doctor 9988' can also visit the site on the day to receive points.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, "We will not only create accessible and comfortable spaces for community sports such as running and cycling but also continuously provide diverse sports programs like the Seoul Runners Festival, the Take It Easy Hangang Triathlon Festival, and the 7979 Seoul Running Crew, to build a healthy, energetic city full of vitality and a city that attracts people worldwide to enjoy sports."
