Plan to Facilitate Convenient Participation of Residents in Resource Circulation Using SK Telecom's ESG Project 'HappyHabit'
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) signed a business agreement with SK Telecom at the district office on the 17th to promote ESG management for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The district aims to strengthen collaboration with private companies and institutions in the ESG business sector to create synergistic effects. Through this agreement, they plan to utilize SK Telecom's ESG project, the ‘Happy Habit’ initiative, to establish an environment where resource recycling and zero waste can be conveniently practiced.
Starting as an ICT-based reusable cup circulation system, Happy Habit has evolved into an eco-friendly platform for participation in zero waste lifestyle habits and resource recycling projects. This year, the district plans to use this platform for environmental and carbon neutrality education targeting residents, small business owners, and companies. Additionally, schools and religious facilities will be encouraged to participate in a recycling project that accumulates carbon neutrality points when collecting and disposing of colorless PET bottles and high-quality recyclables.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “To transition to a carbon-neutral society, a collaborative ecosystem where the public and private sectors work together to create synergy is necessary. Moving forward, both organizations will utilize their resources and infrastructure to promote various ESG projects.”
