The Yeong-Honam Women Leaders Namdo Culture Forum began in 2006 in Jangseong-gun, Jeonnam, and this year marks its 17th session. The forum rotates annually between Yeongnam and Honam regions, aiming to contribute to balanced regional development through east-west harmony and urban-rural exchange by promoting local agricultural products, encouraging consumption, exploring Namdo culture, and exchanging information among members.
This year’s Yeong-Honam Women Leaders Namdo Culture Forum was held at the Wando Marine Healing Center. Marine healing is a health promotion activity that uses marine resources to heal the mind and body. In November last year, the first marine healing center in Korea, equipped with 16 therapy rooms, was opened in Wando-gun.
Deputy Head Lee Chang-hoon said, “Through the Namdo Culture Forum, which has been continuously held by Gojumo women leaders from Gyeongnam and Jeonnam, women consumer groups representing Nonghyup, we hope they will continue to take the lead in harmony and development between the Yeongnam and Honam regions.”
President Kim Pil-woon stated, “The Association of Housewives Thinking of Their Hometowns will continue to serve and work steadily to revitalize the rural economy and support struggling agricultural and rural areas through unity and harmony not only in the Gyeongnam region but also among members nationwide.”
