West Sea Coast Guard Mokpo Metropolitan VTS Holds Communication Meeting with Related Agencies

14 Organizations Including Jeonnam Provincial Office Attend... Discussions on Marine Accident Prevention and Safety Enhancement

The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Commissioner Kim Inchang) Mokpo Metropolitan Maritime Traffic Control Center (VTS) held a meeting on the 16th to strengthen cooperation among related organizations for the prevention of maritime accidents and response capabilities.

According to the West Sea Coast Guard on the 17th, 14 related organizations including the Army, Navy, Mokpo National Maritime University, Mokpo Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, and various local governments attended the meeting held at the Mokpo Metropolitan VTS.

At the meeting, the Mokpo Metropolitan VTS shared measures to strengthen vessel traffic control for the prevention of maritime accidents and requested active cooperation from each organization.

The main topics discussed included △analysis of major maritime accidents △response measures to unidentified vessels in preparation for illegal immigration △issues related to maritime traffic caused by obstacles on routes, vessel navigation methods, and illegal fishing activities. Discussions were held with the attending organizations to establish improvement plans for maritime safety and efficient port operations.

A representative of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency Mokpo Metropolitan VTS stated, “We will continue to strengthen an organic cooperation system with related organizations and do our best to prevent maritime accidents by identifying and improving risk factors within the jurisdiction.”
