Seodaemun-gu to Provide 'Dad Childcare Leave Incentive' of 300,000 Won Monthly

Applications Open from the 1st of Next Month for Up to 3.6 Million Won

Seodaemun-gu to Provide 'Dad Childcare Leave Incentive' of 300,000 Won Monthly

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will implement the "Dad Parental Leave Incentive Support Project" starting next month.

Reflecting the reality that dads find it difficult to take parental leave due to income reduction, this initiative is promoted as part of the "Seodaemun-gu Low Birthrate Response Master Plan." Unlike the existing "Seoul-type Parental Leave Incentive," the incentive will be provided regardless of income.

The support amount is 300,000 KRW per month of parental leave, with a maximum of 3,600,000 KRW per household.

Support is provided within the maximum amount per household even if parental leave is not taken consecutively. Applications submitted by the 15th of each month will be deposited into the applicant's account by the end of that month.

The eligible applicants are dads who ▲ are enrolled in employment insurance and receive parental leave benefits under Article 70 of the Employment Insurance Act from January 2024 onward, and ▲ have been continuously registered as residents in Seodaemun-gu for at least one year as of the application date.

However, those who are subject to the "Ministry of Employment and Labor 6+6 Parental Leave Special Case" based on the Ministry of Health and Welfare's social security system consultation are excluded. Support can be received when taking parental leave after the special case period ends.

Applications can be made from the 1st of next month via the Government24 website or by visiting the local community service center of the applicant's address. Required documents include the parental leave benefit payment decision notice, parental leave confirmation, and resident registration certificate.

Mayor Lee Seongheon said, "I hope the Seodaemun-gu Dad Parental Leave Incentive Support System will help increase men's participation in childcare and achieve a balance between work and family." For more details, please contact the Family Policy Division of Seodaemun-gu Office.
