The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) has designated April 17th as World Hemophilia Day every year since 1989 to raise awareness about hemophilia and bleeding disorders. Hemophilia is a rare hereditary bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency of clotting factors in the blood. Approximately 2,500 patients are registered in South Korea. This year’s World Hemophilia Day slogan is “Treatment for All: Awareness of All Bleeding Disorders,” which conveys the message of striving for a world where everyone with bleeding disorders, regardless of type, gender, age, or place of residence, can receive treatment.

In celebration of World Hemophilia Day, GC Green Cross has been conducting a “Wish Fulfillment Campaign” for children with hemophilia in collaboration with Make-A-Wish Korea since last month. Four children were selected through a lottery. Emotional support will be provided through wish fulfillment until July to help them gain strength and hope to fight and overcome their illness.

A GC Green Cross official stated, “Since its founding, GC Green Cross has continuously worked to create a smooth treatment environment for hemophilia patients,” adding, “We will continue to carry out various social contribution activities for hemophilia patients in the future.”
