The exhibition features a total of 30 artists presenting over 40 works of painting, crafts, and photography under themes such as "Beautiful Companionship," "City Stories," and "Everyday Life" to visitors.
The name of the exhibition, Jangdabi, is derived from the first syllables of the Korean words for "disabled person" (Jang-aein), "multicultural family" (Da-munhwa gajeong), and "non-disabled person" (Bi-jang-aein). The Korea Disabled People's Federation Daejeon DPI (DISABLED PEOPLE’S INTERNATIONAL) has been hosting the Jangdabi Exhibition since 2020.
DPI is an organization established in 1986 with the goal of achieving full social participation and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. Its headquarters are located in Ottawa, Canada. The Daejeon DPI was founded in 2017 and continues to hold regular invited lectures and social contribution activities to improve the rights and interests of people with disabilities.
The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation provides the Currency Museum's special exhibition hall free of charge to support public cultural experiences and the artistic activities of local artists. The Currency Museum hosts about 20 exhibitions annually. This year, exhibitions of Western paintings and photography clubs have been held.
Sung Chang-hoon, president of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, said, "It is meaningful to hold the Daejeon DPI's 'Jangdabi Exhibition' at the Currency Museum in observance of Disability Day," adding, "I hope all visitors to the exhibition will have a time of empathy while appreciating the artworks created in harmony by people with disabilities, non-disabled people, and multicultural families."
