[Click eStock] "TLB exclusively provides CXL PCB module samples to Samsung and Hynix"

Shinyoung Securities stated on the 17th that the introduction of Compute Express Link (CXL) is imminent and predicted that TLV's performance will improve.

Choi Jun-won, a researcher at Shinyoung Securities, explained, "Intel announced that it will release the Xeon 6 processor supporting CXL 2.0 within the second quarter," adding, "It is understood that TLV's major clients, SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, are also preparing for mass production of DRAM supporting CXL 2.0."

He continued, "TLV is exclusively providing CXL PCB module samples to Samsung Electronics and Hynix," and added, "It is understood that more than six samples have been provided."

He emphasized, "The average selling price (ASP) of the CXL sample model (estimated to be at the 16-layer level) is about twice that of the existing DDR5," and forecasted, "The ASP is expected to be even higher when models with 24 layers or more are released."

Researcher Choi predicted, "This year, performance will improve due to the mass production effect of CXL PCB modules and the expansion of AI server demand."

He added, "Global AI server shipments this year are expected to reach about 1.5 million units, a 40% increase compared to the previous year," and expressed expectations that "sales toward enterprise SSDs will increase due to the expansion of AI server demand and the rebound in PC demand." Furthermore, he noted, "80% of TLV's PCB modules for SSDs and 85% for DRAM are products for servers," and added, "Due to the launch of AI PCs by global PC manufacturers and the end of support for Windows 10, PC demand is expected to gradually recover until 2025."

TLV established the first mass production system for SSD PCBs in Korea. It manufactures PCB modules for both DRAM and SSD. As a new business, it is also mass-producing PCB modules for semiconductor post-process inspection equipment. Researcher Choi assessed that in the first quarter of this year, the proportion of customers was about 50% each for SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics.
