Hazy Due to Nationwide Yellow Dust Impact
On Wednesday the 17th, the whole country will be mostly cloudy with poor air quality.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'bad' across all regions, with the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon region, Chungcheong region, and Yeongnam region temporarily reaching 'very bad' levels in the morning.
This is due to the influence of yellow dust that began flowing in from the previous day. Yellow dust originating near the Gobi Desert and the Inner Mongolian Plateau is moving southeastward on northwesterly winds, causing yellow dust to be observed in the central and some southern regions.
This yellow dust is expected to continue affecting Korea until the 18th.
The morning low temperature is forecast to be between 5 and 13 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperature between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius. Temperature differences between day and night will be around 15 degrees, especially inland, so health precautions should be taken.
From late night the previous day until the morning, dense fog with visibility under 200 meters is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, inland Gangwon, inland Gyeongbuk, and Jeolla region, and fog with visibility under 1 km is expected in the Gyeongnam region.
On bridges located on the coast and roads adjacent to rivers, lakes, or valleys, fog may be even denser than surrounding areas, so special attention to traffic safety is required.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the East Sea and South Sea nearshore waters, and 0.5 meters in the West Sea nearshore waters.
Wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are predicted to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea.
