Special Memories Only Available During the Festival Period
Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that they are recruiting participants for a special tour of the Naro Space Center launch pad during the 14th Gohung Aerospace Festival, which will be held for three days from May 4 to 6.
The Naro Space Center launch pad tour is a special event that can only be experienced once a year during the Gohung Aerospace Festival held at the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum area. Only 4,200 people (2,940 online reservations, 1,260 on-site registrations at the festival) can participate.
Those who wish to make an online reservation can do so on the official website of the 14th Gohung Aerospace Festival.
As of April 8, 1,901 people have registered by the 14th, and given the enthusiastic public interest in the Naro Space Center launch pad tour program, which opens the door to Korea’s space, it is expected to sell out within this week.
A county official stated, “For those who could not make an online reservation and visitors to the festival during the event, on-site registration will also be available to explore the Naro Space Center.”
Meanwhile, the Naro Space Center, the 13th space center in the world, was completed on June 11, 2009, with a total site area of 5,379,592㎡ and a total floor area of 89,001㎡.
Located at 490 Habanno-ro, Bongrae-myeon, Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do, it is Korea’s first space base. Major facilities include the satellite rocket launch pad, launch control building, propulsion engine test facility, assembly test facility, tracking radar building, and optical equipment building. It is the historic site where Korea’s first space launch vehicles, Naro and Nuri, were launched.
