He will visit Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, from the 17th to the 19th to discuss international joint research and industrial exchange of Gyeongbuk-style traditional medicine.
This schedule is a follow-up to the international cooperation meeting held at the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government International Hall on February 26, where Gyeongbuk Province and Yeongdeok County, along with Daegu Haany University, the Embassy of Mongolia in Korea, and Monos Group, one of Mongolia's top 10 companies, discussed international joint research and industrial exchange of Gyeongbuk-style traditional medicine.
On the first day of the schedule, Governor Kim will attend a dinner meeting with Byun Chang-hoon, president of Daegu Haany University, Ha In-seong, director of Gyeongbuk Technopark, Monos Group Chairman Khurelbaatar, and Rambaayar, president of Monos University of Pharmacy, to discuss specific matters for promoting the Traditional Medicine Silk Road project.
On the second day, together with Lee Cheol-woo, governor of Gyeongbuk Province, he will pay a courtesy visit to Minister Engkh-Amgalan at the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia. Following this, Gyeongbuk Province, Yeongdeok County, Daegu Haany University, the Mongolian Ministry of Education and Science, Monos Group, and Monos University of Pharmacy will sign a multilateral MOU for international exchange and cooperation in traditional medicine, followed by an MOU with Ulaanbaatar City.
Through this MOU signing, Governor Kim plans to lead international exchange and cooperation centered on traditional medicine as a new strategy to counteract regional extinction, in collaboration with Gyeongbuk Province. This includes establishing the K-Hanbang Edufarm applying traditional medicine herbal cell culture technology and building the Traditional Medicine Silk Road Center, aiming to revitalize the region and attract population inflow.
Governor Kim Kwang-yeol said, “Based on the traditions and scholarship shared by Korea and Mongolia, I will do my best to ensure the successful progress of the K-Traditional Medicine Silk Road project actively promoted by Gyeongbuk Province, serving as a stepping stone so that new possibilities and hopes to counter regional extinction, such as the K-Hanbang Edufarm within the region, can become a reality.”
