Regarding the controversy that a famous franchise store inside Gimpo Airport priced set menus higher than purchasing the items individually, the airport operator, Korea Airports Corporation, clarified that this is not true.

Airport Corporation Addresses Controversy Over Set Menus More Expensive Than Individual Items: "Insufficient Explanation... Menu Board to Be Revised" (Comprehensive)

On the 16th, the airport corporation released a statement saying, "It has been confirmed that the 2-person set menu from this vendor differs in portion size compared to purchasing the items separately." However, they added, "The set menu photos on the menu board used the same images as the single items, which led to insufficient explanation about the portion differences." They also stated, "The corporation confirmed that the vendor revised the menu board on the same day to include detailed portion information for the set menus." In the revised menu board, the description for Set A, priced at 21,900 won, now includes 'Tteokbokki 1.5 servings,' and the Soup Tteokbokki set includes 'Tteokbokki 1 serving.' The number of fish cakes in Set A was also changed from 2 to 4.

Earlier, a netizen named A posted a photo of the menu board from a snack franchise store located in an airport on an online community on the 15th. According to the menu, the 2-person Set A, consisting of 'Tteokbokki + half portion of fried food + half portion of Sundae + vegetable kimbap + 2 mini fish cakes,' was priced at 21,900 won. Meanwhile, the Soup Tteokbokki set, consisting of 'Tteokbokki + half portion of fried food + half portion of Sundae + 2 mini fish cakes,' was priced at 10,900 won. The vegetable kimbap costs 5,000 won.

A stated, "When purchasing the Soup Tteokbokki set and vegetable kimbap separately, the total price is 15,900 won. The menu composition is the same as the 2-person Set A, but there is a 6,000 won difference," and questioned, "What is this? Isn't this too much?" According to the menu board, there appears to be no difference in quantity or composition between buying the set or purchasing some items separately. Typically, restaurants offer discounts or benefits when buying sets, but in this case, the set price is 6,000 won more expensive.

Other netizens who saw this also found it somewhat absurd. Comments included, "Charging an extra 6,000 won on a 15,900 won item. Are they targeting people who can't do math?", "Still, since people buy it, I guess that's why they sell it like that," and "Is this a strategy to catch anyone?" One netizen also suggested, "(The 2-person set) probably has double the amount of Tteokbokki."
