Mayor Shinsangjin: "We Will Open UAM Air Routes Optimized for Seongnam"

Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin promised, "We will do our best to open UAM (Urban Air Mobility) air routes and provide integrated mobility services to citizens."

Mayor Shin Sang-jin attended the mid-term report meeting on UAM introduction policy research on the 16th and emphasized, "Through this policy research, we will establish an administrative foundation such as creating a mid- to long-term roadmap for Seongnam-type urban air mobility (UAM) and enacting related ordinances. In line with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's plan to commercialize urban air mobility (UAM) by 2025, we will develop Seongnam City into a future mobility hub."

He added, "In particular, we will do our best to open UAM air routes that connect excellent ground transportation networks at the city's optimized locations to provide integrated mobility services to citizens."

UAM stands for Urban Air Mobility, a transportation system where passengers travel in aircraft powered by eco-friendly energy.

Seongnam City decided to introduce UAM and began policy research in February.

Earlier, in July last year, Seongnam City signed a business agreement with the Lotte consortium (Lotte Construction, Lotte Rental, Lotte Innovate) to establish the foundation for Seongnam City's urban air mobility (UAM). Since then, they have formed and operated a public-private working council and promoted policy research.

The main policy research contents include ▲discovering specialized service models for Seongnam City's urban air mobility (UAM) ▲analyzing the current airspace status including control zones and possible flight areas ▲and creating optimal vertiport (UAM takeoff and landing site) infrastructure connecting ground and aerial mobility.
