On the 16th, the Health and Medical Labor Union stated in a press release, “The government has yet to present a solution to the doctors' refusal to provide medical treatment and continues to pressure medical organizations to stop collective actions,” urging the government and medical organizations to engage in prompt dialogue.
The union asserted, “Public sentiment demands the swift normalization of medical treatment and proper medical reform,” adding, “The government must completely change its national policy based on public sentiment, and medical organizations must promptly work toward normalizing medical treatment in accordance with the will of the people.”
Furthermore, they said, “What the public truly wants is not for the government to halt the expansion of medical school admissions, but for doctors to quickly return to the medical field and actively participate in dialogue,” urging, “The government must create a platform for dialogue aimed at the swift normalization of medical treatment and proper medical reform, and medical organizations must decisively return to the medical field unconditionally and participate in social dialogue.”
Finally, the union emphasized the need to create a broad consensus on medical reform by the regular National Assembly session in September, when legislation and budget reviews will begin, demanding ▲ proposals for expanding public healthcare solutions ▲ passage of laws establishing public medical schools and regional doctor systems.
