Cheonan City Provides Subsidies for 40 Electric Two-Wheelers

Cheonan City in Chungnam announced on the 16th that it will provide subsidies for 40 electric two-wheelers in the first half of this year.

The subsidy amounts are up to 1.4 million KRW for light vehicles, 2.3 million KRW for small vehicles, 2.7 million KRW for medium vehicles, 3 million KRW for large vehicles, and 2.7 million KRW for other types per unit. In particular, this year, vulnerable groups, small business owners, and farmers will receive an additional 20% of the national subsidy when purchasing electric two-wheelers, and those purchasing for delivery purposes will receive an additional 10% of the national subsidy.

Additionally, if an existing internal combustion engine two-wheeler is deregistered or scrapped before purchase, an additional 300,000 KRW from the national subsidy can be received within the maximum support amount.

Eligibility for application includes residents registered in Cheonan City for at least 90 days prior to the application date, or corporations and public institutions with business locations within the Cheonan area.

Applications can be made by visiting the sales office of the electric two-wheeler manufacturer or dealer to sign a vehicle purchase contract, and the vehicle manufacturer or importer will submit the application on behalf of the applicant through the Ministry of Environment's Zero-Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System.

Mayor Park Sang-don said, “We ask for the active participation of citizens to reduce fine dust and air pollutants,” and added, “We will continue to expand the distribution of electric two-wheelers to realize an eco-friendly green city.”
