On the 44th Disabled Persons Day, People with and without Disabilities Participate Together
Event Held on the 18th and 19th at Eunpyeong-gu Office and Susaek Station Plaza
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will hold the 44th Disabled Persons Day commemorative event, the ‘Eunpyeong Bombom Festival,’ a place of communication and harmony where people with and without disabilities participate together, from the 18th to the 19th at Eunpyeong-gu Office and Susaek Station Plaza.
On the 18th, starting with a performance by ‘Uri Ensemble,’ an orchestra composed of people with disabilities, at Eunpyeong Hall on the 5th floor of Eunpyeong-gu Office, the program will include ▲ Disabled Persons Day commemorative ceremony ▲ awards for contributors to disability welfare ▲ a congratulatory performance by Lee Areum, a visually impaired member of the Hanbit Art Troupe.
From 3 p.m., there will be a screening of the barrier-free film ‘We Can Do That!’ which includes audio descriptions for the visually impaired and Korean subtitles for the hearing impaired, allowing everyone to enjoy the movie, followed by a discussion about the film.
On the 19th, at Susaek Station Plaza, the event ‘Eoul Han Madang’ will feature promotions and experiences of vocational rehabilitation products, campaigns, food booths, and wonderful performances such as magic shows by disabled artists, ensemble dance, bands, and Nanta.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “I hope that the 44th Disabled Persons Day commemorative week events will provide a place where people with and without disabilities can communicate and empathize with each other,” and added, “We will do our best to create a welfare city in Eunpyeong that embraces everyone without exclusion by realizing various customized welfare services for residents living in Eunpyeong.”
