Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the marriage promotion project for single men and women, ‘Solo Mon-ui Seontaek (Solomon's Choice),’ five times this year.
Solo Mon-ui Seontaek is a planned event that provides single men and women with opportunities for natural meetings and continuous relationship development, and aims to spread positive values about marriage. It was first held last year.
Seongnam City recently finalized the schedules for the first and second events this year.
The first event will be held on May 18 at Tap Public Pangyo Branch (Baekhyeon-dong, Bundang-gu), and the second event on June 16 at Millitopia Hotel (Changgok-dong, Sujeong-gu).
Each event will have 100 participants, 50 couples (50 men and 50 women) per session.
The event uses an artificial intelligence (AI) matching program to analyze participants’ personality type indicators (MBTI) and recommend compatible partners. Participants are then grouped into teams of 10 people per group.

Eligibility to participate requires being a single working man or woman aged 27 to 39, either registered as a resident of Seongnam or employed at a company within the region.
Seongnam City will accept applications for the first and second Solo Mon-ui Seontaek events from the 22nd of this month until the 3rd of next month.
Applicants may apply for both the first and second events, but those who participated last year are excluded from applying.
To participate, applicants can visit the Seongnam City website (Citizen Participation → Online Application → ‘Solo Mon-ui Seontaek’ Participation Application), and submit the application form along with proof documents such as a certificate of employment and resident registration abstract online. Applications can also be submitted in person at the Low Birthrate Countermeasures Team, Women and Family Division, 6th floor of Seongnam City Hall.
A Seongnam City official stated, "Last year, a total of 99 couples (43% of 230 couples) were successfully matched through five Solo Mon-ui Seontaek events, achieving great success," and added, "In July, marking one year since the project started, we will conduct a survey to examine marriage status and changes in perception."
