Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Joint Situation Assessment Meeting... Responding to Middle East Situation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 15th that it held a joint meeting between headquarters and diplomatic missions to analyze the Middle East situation related to Iran's attack on Israel and to review safety and protection measures for overseas nationals.

The meeting, chaired by Minister Cho Tae-yeol, was attended by senior officials from headquarters including Second Vice Minister Kang In-seon, as well as the Ambassador to Israel, Ambassador to Iran, Ambassador to Lebanon, and Head of the Palestinian Mission, who participated via video conference.

They discussed recent developments and security trends in the Middle East, and reviewed protection measures for overseas nationals residing in Israel, Iran, and neighboring Middle Eastern regions.

Minister Cho urged close monitoring of the local situation and requested that headquarters and diplomatic missions work closely to ensure the safety of Koreans staying in the area.

He especially asked the heads of missions to thoroughly prepare safety measures for Korean citizens, businesses, vessels, and diplomatic missions, and to examine risk factors related to the Korean economy and security to develop detailed contingency plans.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "We will continue to monitor the Middle East situation for national interests and the safety of our citizens, and will keep seeking ways to ensure the safety of our nationals."
