Reply to the post "Kim Kyung-yul Is Truly a Hypocrite"
Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo responded on the 15th to former People Power Party emergency committee member Kim Kyung-yul's criticism of him by saying, "Having lived a long life, I've even seen a dog that doesn't know its place criticize a person."
On the same day, Mayor Hong made this remark in a reply to a comment posted on his online communication channel 'Dream of Youth' Q&A (Youth asks, Hong Jun-pyo answers), which stated, "Kim Kyung-yul is the real hypocrite." The original post pointed out, "Former committee member Kim is one of the main culprits who ruined this general election," and added, "He himself is neither clean nor pure, and before criticizing Mayor Hong, he should reflect on and restrain himself for ruining the general election."
Earlier, former committee member Kim appeared on SBS Radio and fiercely criticized Mayor Hong, who emphasized the 'Han Dong-hoon responsibility theory' as the cause of the ruling party's defeat in the April 10 general election. He said, "It is appropriate for Kang Hyung-wook to respond to Mayor Hong's series of symptoms." Kang is a trainer who corrects problematic behavior in dogs. Kim likened Mayor Hong's recent harsh remarks toward former committee member Han to problematic dog behavior. On the 13th, Mayor Hong criticized Han Dong-hoon, former People Power Party emergency committee chairman, on his Facebook, saying, "What kind of shame does he have to become the party's emergency committee chairman?" and "As long as I am in this party, I will not forgive him."
Former committee member Kim said, "Mayor Hong has also made many quite insulting remarks about me, but I see no need to respond immediately," and added, "He keeps calling me Kim Kyung-yul the leftist, Han Dong-hoon the leftist, but it is quite questionable what exactly he is trying to assert." He further stated, "(Mayor Hong) keeps using terms like left and right, which are quite archaic expressions," and added, "I think the term 'leftist' in our country's political reality is a tamed expression of the word 'red,' which used to ridicule our society and politics in the past."
Regarding Mayor Hong's recent strong emphasis on the responsibility of Han Dong-hoon, he viewed it as a political judgment to restrain former committee member Han, who is a leading contender for the next presidential election. As for the cause of the general election defeat, he said, "I would like to point to communication issues," specifying, "At the very least, communication between the party and the presidential office, communication within the party, and communication between the party and the people."
