'Transforming into a Citizen-Centered Space' Incheon Art Platform... Expanding Street Performances and Exhibitions

The complex cultural space 'Incheon Art Platform,' launched in 2009, will be newly operated as a citizen-centered space.

Incheon City announced on the 15th that it will open a new 'YOUTH+STAGE' performance venue in the outdoor plaza of Incheon Art Platform in Jung-gu and start street performances from the 16th.

Fifty-two teams of young artists selected through a public contest will present diverse performances every Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 1:30 PM during the first half of this year. Through the operation of YOUTH+STAGE, the city expects to foster active youth culture and enable citizens to gather anytime to enjoy music, thereby redefining the role of Incheon Art Platform.

Starting from the 20th, various performances and exhibitions such as live concerts, record markets, street theater, circus, and mime will be held at the Art Platform. The city will also significantly strengthen art academies tailored to citizens' interests, including school-linked art classes and daily creative programs by age group considering life cycles.

Additionally, support for artistic creation spaces will be expanded for young artists in Incheon, and the residency support area, which had been limited to the visual arts field, will be broadened to include various fields such as music and performance.

The city has also planned to install landscape lighting inspired by the fact that Incheon Art Platform was once a sea route of the old port area, aiming to make it a nighttime attraction where citizens can visit and stay anytime.

An official from Incheon City stated, "We will provide citizens with enjoyable cultural experiences through diverse programs, exhibitions, and performances so that Incheon Art Platform can grow into a central hub of local art."
