Enginechem Life Sciences announced on the 15th that it has officially started exporting to China by supplying an initial batch worth 1.3 billion KRW of the health functional food 'Rockpid' to the Yangno Industry Committee under the China Asia Economic Development Association.
Enginechem Life Sciences, together with its affiliate Medfood, is actively promoting cooperative projects with the China Yangno Industry Committee and Chinese autonomous regions, expecting sales of more than ten times the initial export volume by the end of the year.
Based on close cooperation with the China Asia Economic Development Association’s Yangno Industry Committee, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hainan Committee, and major Chinese corporations, which have shown interest in Rockpid, Enginechem Life Sciences successfully completed export customs clearance last year and full-scale exports in the first quarter of this year. This success is attributed to the special immune function of Rockpid, a health functional food containing the independently developed ingredient PLAG.
This transaction is a result of Enginechem Life Sciences’ efforts to expand the business of the health functional food Rockpid by appointing Yoon Young-bae, Head of the Agricultural and Fishery Food Trading Division at the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), as the Head of the Global Business Division.
Vice President Yoon Young-bae served for 34 years at the public enterprise Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT), where he developed several first-of-their-kind sixth industry platforms in Korea, including the 'Agricultural and Fishery Products Cyber Exchange' and the 'Electronic Procurement System for School Meals.' He significantly grew the agricultural and fishery product trade from just 3.8 billion KRW to 3.8 trillion KRW, elevating the competitiveness of the sixth industry to a global level. He increased the sales of Medfood, Enginechem Life Sciences’ health functional food affiliate, from 1.3 billion KRW in 2022 to 17.4 billion KRW in 2023, with a sales target of 100 billion KRW for 2024.
An official from Enginechem Life Sciences stated, "Recently, China, like South Korea, is experiencing population decline due to low birth rates alongside rapid aging. In particular, the number of chronic disease patients among the elderly is increasing rapidly, leading to growing interest in health management." He added, "The China Yangno Industry Committee has selected Enginechem Life Sciences’ health functional food Rockpid as a health management solution for the elderly population. This export is significant as it secures a foothold for health functional foods in the Chinese market, and supply volumes will be greatly expanded starting from the second quarter of this year."
Vice President Yoon Young-bae emphasized, "We are newly establishing marketing strategies for the health functional food 'Rockpid' (ROCKPID), securing distribution networks, diversifying online and offline channels, and actively targeting domestic and international markets through new businesses, focusing on sales growth." He added, "Leveraging Rockpid’s outstanding safety and immune regulation functions along with marketing power, we will actively expand our entry into the global health functional food market, starting from China."
