Dong-A University Taekwondo Team and Australian Taekwondo National Team Joint Training

Training Camp for This Year's Paris Olympics

Connection with Lee Seok-hoon, Coach of the Australian National Team

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) will host the Australian Taekwondo national team, who will visit the school to conduct joint training sessions with the university's Taekwondo team athletes.

Lee Seok-hoon (Ph.D. in Physical Education from Dong-A University), head coach of the Australian Olympic Taekwondo national team, along with coaches and athletes totaling 18 members, visited Korea for a training camp in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Four athletes from the Australian team are expected to participate in the Paris Olympics.


The Australian team will train at Dong-A University for one week, followed by participation in a joint training camp with national teams from Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan at the Jincheon National Training Center for another week.


Coach Lee Seok-hoon said, "During my athlete days, I often trained at Dong-A University," and added, "I expect that the Australian athletes will gain a lot of practical experience by training together with Dong-A University's Taekwondo team, which has excellent programs and athletes in all weight categories."


He continued, "I am grateful to President Lee Hae-woo and the staff at Dong-A University for warmly welcoming the athletes. Through this joint training, I hope the athletes’ skills will improve and that we can repay with good results at the Paris Olympics. I am also pleased to be able to train alongside Dong-A University athletes who possess a high level of skill."


Originally from Busan, Coach Lee had a successful athletic career representing Samsung S-1, the Military Sports Corps, and the Suyeong District Office of Busan. During his career, he won numerous domestic competitions and earned gold medals at the World University Championships and the Asian Championships.


After retiring as an athlete, he served as head coach for the Dongnae District Office of Busan, Suyeong District Office, and as a coach for the Korean national team. Since 2022, he has been the head coach of the Australian Olympic Taekwondo national team.
