Upgrading Industrial Infrastructure through Complex Resort Construction
Yang Jae-saeng, Chairman of Eunsan Shipping and Aviation Co., Ltd., was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the 15th, officially launching the 25th Board of Directors.
On the same day at 2 p.m., the Busan Chamber of Commerce held the inauguration and handover ceremony for the new board and chairman at the Crystal Ballroom of Busan Lotte Hotel, attended by over 700 guests including members of the Busan Chamber, executives, and key local figures.
The event proceeded with the introduction of the 25th Board of Directors, followed by the outgoing chairman’s farewell speech, the new chairman’s inaugural address, and congratulatory speeches. Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Chairman Ahn Seong-min, Superintendent of Education Ha Yun-su, and Busan-born writer Kim Jin-myung extended their congratulations to the newly appointed Chairman Yang Jae-saeng.
Yang Jae-saeng, the 25th president of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is delivering his inauguration speech.
Outgoing Chairman Jang In-hwa expressed pride in the local economic community’s leading role in major projects such as the Expo bid and the relocation of the Korea Development Bank headquarters to Busan, and conveyed gratitude to the board members for their support over the past three years in his farewell speech.
In his inaugural address, Chairman Yang Jae-saeng said, “I extend my gratitude and respect to former Chairman Jang In-hwa for his decisive leadership that enabled the 25th Board of Directors to launch on a foundation of harmony.”
Chairman Yang expressed his determination, stating, “Since my inauguration, I have received overwhelming congratulations and support, which has made me feel a heavy responsibility. I will become a melting pot that unites businesspeople and consolidates the capabilities of the local economy as a positive icon for the future of the regional economy.”
Drawing on his experience growing a global logistics company, Chairman Yang proposed a vision for Busan to advance beyond a Northeast Asian maritime logistics hub to become a global city at the center of the world.
To achieve this, he set specific goals to strengthen the growth foundation of local companies through attracting large corporations, revitalizing the startup ecosystem, and resolving corporate difficulties, as well as actively promoting industrial infrastructure upgrades such as relocating the Korea Development Bank headquarters, the early opening of Gadeokdo New Airport, and the construction of a Busan-style integrated resort.
The new chairman also revealed plans to contribute more broadly to regional development beyond the economic sector. He pointed out that Busan’s poor living environment, evidenced by the highest nationwide rates of cancer patients and patients with undiagnosed diseases, is a key reason why young people leave the city.
He expressed the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s commitment to actively promote a clean water supply project for citizens’ health as part of its social contribution efforts.
After the inauguration ceremony, Chairman Yang Jae-saeng plans to reorganize the organization to enable the Busan Chamber of Commerce to more actively visit industrial sites for local companies, alongside the practical implementation of key projects.
