After the perpetrator fell, Sergeant Scott approached and took the knife away from him. A citizen who witnessed this told local ABC News, "If the officer had not pulled the trigger, there would have been more casualties." Afterwards, Sergeant Scott attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on victims who had been attacked and fallen, trying to save as many citizens as possible.

This act of hers has been shared on social media and has received public acclaim. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also emphasized, "Sergeant Scott actively confronted the dangerous situation and saved many lives," calling her "undoubtedly our hero."

Meanwhile, the perpetrator of this stabbing rampage is 40-year-old Joel Couch. Couch worked as an English tutor in Queensland before recently moving to Sydney. According to local police investigations, he has no criminal record but was found to have experienced mental health issues in the past.
